JACKSON —     Services for Huey P. Summerlin will be held today, Saturday, at 11 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Bill Webb and Reverend Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will be at First Baptist Church of Collinsville Cemetery on Hamrick Road. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. Summerlin, age 79, longtime resident of Meridian, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

    Mr. Summerlin graduated from Kosciusko High School, then went on to serve in the United States Air Force and Mississippi Air National Guard for over 40 years and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and discipleship training teacher. His hobbies included electronics and wood working. He graduated from the Bell and Howell School of Electronics and owned a business in the basement of his home called Town and Country Electronics. He enjoyed traveling with his family.

    Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Neva Jean Summerlin, of Meridian; children, Rev. Huey LaVerne Summerlin and wife, Gail, of Magnolia; Jeffrey Glenn Summerlin and wife, Ginger, of Front Royal, Va.; Sheila Dianne Hamilton and husband, Tim, of Caledonia; Gregory Alan Summerlin and companion, Jeanette Dearman, of Meridian; grandchildren, David Allan Summerlin, Natalie Shea Summerlin, Lindsey Michael Summerlin, Jessica Lauren Hamilton, Timothy Jacob Hamilton, Kelsey Amber Summerlin, Alex Kase Summerlin, and Noah Graham Summerlin; great-grandchildren, Alexa Grace Hamilton and Kyndel Renae Barksdale; sister, Sylvia Jenkins and husband, James, of Meridian; brother, Sidney Summerlin and wife, Margie, of Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, E.C. Summerlin and Pearl Lishman Summerlin; brother, Hayward Summerlin; sisters, Joyce Posey and Shirley Dean Summerlin.

    Family request memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 196 Charmant Drive Suite 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157.

    Pallbearers will be Alex Summerlin, Noah Summerlin, Jacob Hamilton, Mike Jenkins, Jason Summerlin, and Tim Hamilton.

    Honorary Pallbearers will be members of his men’s Sunday school class at Midway Baptist Church.
