Johnnie L. Loper

MERIDIAN —     UNION – Services for Johnnie L. Loper will be held today at 3 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Guy McGarity and Oliver Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Garden Cemetery.

    Mr. Loper, 81, of Union, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Laird Hospital in Union. He was born and reared in Neshoba County. Mr. Loper married and moved to Newton County, where he lived and reared his family in the Stratton Community for 40 years. Mr. Loper retired from Esco Corp. in 1993. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

    Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Willie B. Loper of Union; two sons, Derrell Loper and wife, Renee, of Dalewood and Joel Loper and wife, Dawn, of Philadelphia; a daughter, Darlene Rigdon and husband, J.T., of Union; five grandchildren, Casey Bridges and wife, Amber, Alex Rigdon, Garrett Loper, Gage Loper and Abbi Loper; a great-grandson, Colton Bridges; a sister, Erma J. Quick of Carthage; a brother, Melvin Loper of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Maude Loper; a sister, Hazel Smith; and five brothers, Edward Loper, Howard Loper, Reba Loper, Odell Loper and Grady Loper.

    Pallbearers are Casey Bridges, Alex Rigdon, Lavelle Chesney, Tim McMullan, Coy McMullan and Gilbert Loper.

     Visitation will be held today, from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m.
