Van A. Duncan Sr.

MERIDIAN —     RIDGELAND - Graveside services for Van A. Duncan Sr. will be held Friday, at 11 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in the Tucker community, south of Philadelphia. Sebrell Funeral Home of Ridgeland is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Duncan, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at UMMC in Jackson. Van was born in Philadelphia to David H. Duncan and Sudie M. Duncan on June 13, 1926. He was a long time resident of Meridian in the automobile business and a parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Van had resided at the State Veterans Home in Jackson for the past several years.

    Survivors include his sister, Ethel Johnson of Massachusetts; children: Van A. (Mary Jane) Duncan Jr. of Brandon, Madonna Gauthreaux of Columbia S.C., Linda (David) Soutter of John's Island, S.C., and Gracie (Freddie) Monsour of Meridian; seven grandchildren; and, three great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons: Maurice and Fidelis; brothers: Jimmie, D.H., Rudy, and Billy; and sister, Mary Dover.

    Memorials may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, P.O. Box 37, Philadelphia, MS 39350.
