Lester Hubert White

MERIDIAN —     Funeral services for Lester Hubert White age 83 of Meridian will be held Tuesday, at Carmel Baptist Church with Rev’s Bill Webb, Joe Anderson and Charles Davis officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home handling arrangements.  Mr. White went to his heavenly home Saturday at Rush Hospital.      He was a charter member of Carmel Baptist Church.He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 21 years. He worked at Gibson’s/Howards Brothers, Greater Mississippi Life Insurance Co., and Stephens Funeral Home.  He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed. He is survived by his wife Peggy White of Meridian; three daughters Mary White, Linda Jackson and her husband Joe Jackson, Joyce Butler and her husband Jerry Butler, Mac Yates and his fiance’ Montana Beard whom he loved and accepted as his own; grandson Jay Butler and granddaughter Brittany Butler all of Meridian.

    He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a number of special family friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Stephens White and Jewell White Johnson, two brothers Maurice White and Rayborn White, a sister Iva Steele and numerous step siblings. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ray Butler, Clay Alderson, Billy Glen Hastings, Larry Whitehead, Leonard Ridout and R. W. Stokley.  Honorary pallbearers are The Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and Dr. Paul Varela.

    The family requests memorials be made to Carmel Baptist Church Organ fund.  Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today and 30 minutes prior to service Tuesday at the church.
