Lillie Hughes

MERIDIAN —     A memorial service for Lillie Hughes will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Central United Methodist Church in Meridian, Mississippi at 2:30 p.m.

    Arrangements by Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home, Douglasville, GA.

    Ms. Lillie Hasson Hughes, age 91, of Lithia Springs, GA, formerly of Meridian, MS, passed away on September 26, 2013.  She was born July 25, 1922 in Northport, Alabama. She lived the majority of her life in Meridian, Mississippi where she raised three children and was extremely active in Central United Methodist Church.  She worked over 30 years at the circulation desk at the Meridian Public Library and upon her retirement was honored with a proclamation from the mayor.  She spent the last three years in Georgia with her daughter.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Vester M. and Clara Bailey Hasson; her brother, Mack and sister, Doris.

    She is survived by her brother, John Hasson, Tuscaloosa, AL; her sons, James Hughes, El Paso, TX, Terry Hughes, Middletown, MD, and her daughter, Susan Poynter, Douglasville, Georgia;  seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

    Memorial donations may be made payable to the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library, 2517 7th Street, Meridian, MS 39301 with the notation “in memory of Lillie Hughes”.
