Maurine Ward Winfield

MERIDIAN —

    Services for Ms. Maurine Ward Winfield will be held today at 11 a.m.  at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial in the Union City Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmie Holder will officiate.

    Winfield, 86, of Union, died Wednesday at J.G. Alexander Nursing Home.

    Upon completing cosmetology school, Ms. Winfield operated a beauty salon in the first mall in Austin, Texas for 15 years. She moved to Meridian, where she owned Oakland Heights Beauty Salon for 10 years. Until she retired, she owned and operated Merle Norman Cosmetics Studios in Union, Brandon and Forest.

    Survivors include one daughter, Sandi Butts and husband Wes of Hampton, Va., one son: Kenneth Winfield and wife Liz of Newton, three grandsons, Kevin Winfield and wife Star; Trent Russell (April) and Dusty Russell (Emily) , six great grandchildren, Tristen Winfield, Zachery Winfield, Joseph Winfield, Gracie Claire Russell, Peyton McGuirt and Chloe Russell, two brothers, Bill Ward of Meridian, Bert Ward and wife MaryAnn of Daphne, Ala., and son-in-law, Burlon Russell of Little Rock.

    Ms. Winfield was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Winfield, one daughter, Debbie Russell, two grandchildren, Torie Renee Russell, Michael Gibson Winfield, parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Ward, two sisters, Jeanette Ward Martin, Annette Ward Harris and one brother, Charles Ward.

    Pallbearers are Jeffery Andrews, Jeremiah Russell, Kenneth Gibson, Justin Russell, Ryan Goforth and Adam Vaughn
