Robert Ladell Williams

MERIDIAN —     Services for Robert Ladell Williams will be held today, Saturday, at 10 a.m. at Rolling Creek Baptist Church with Rev. John Edwards, Rev. Billy Brumfield, and Rev. Phillip Stanley officiating. Burial will take place in the Stonewall Cemetery with Wright’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Williams, 83, of Stonewall, died July 3, 2014 at Queen City Nursing Center in Meridian. He was born on July 22, 1930 to Albert and Virtrue (Smith) Williams in Clarke County. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #72 in Stonewall. He was a life-long member and deacon at Rolling Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired machinist from Burlington Industries after 37 years.

    Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Williams; son, Wiley (Hattie) Williams; daughter, Judy Williams (Danny Ray) Holifield; step-daughter, DeeAnn (Carl) Richardson; grandchildren, Dana Reeves (Mickey) Watson, Tonia Reeves (Josh) Stringer, Wendy Williams, Amanda Williams and Danna Williams; great-grandchildren, Hailey Bonner, Michael Watson, Blake Watson, Addison Stringer, Blakely Stringer, Ravin Johnson,  Amiyah Little, Alijah Little and extended family and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Virtrue Williams; his first wife, Maudie Davis Williams; grandson, Michael Scrimpshire; sister, Polly Johnson and brother, Howard Williams.

    Visitation will be held today, Saturday, at 9 a.m. at the church.

    Pallbearers will be Danny Smith, Gary Johnson, Arnold Campbell, Mickey Watson, Josh Stringer and Danny Ray Holifield. Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Williams and W. E. Lee.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or your favorite charity. Online condolences can be given at
