MERIDIAN —

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A private burial service for Charlotte Dunagin Mayfield was held Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Park Funeral Home of Memphis was in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Mayfield, 90, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Baptist Hospital after suffering a stroke a week prior. She was born May 18, 1922, in Decatur, Miss., to George Harmon Love Dunagin and Odis Mae Spivey Dunagin. In May 1942, she received a bachelor of arts from Blue Mountain College for Women with a major in music. She was a member of First Evangelical Church, lifetime member and past president of the Renaissance Music Circle, and former member of Le Bonheur Club and Memphis Symphony League.

    Survivors include her three children: Charlotte Mayfield Hayes and husband Daniel W. Hayes Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., and Noel Henning Mayfield, and Jane Margaret Mayfield, both of Memphis; grandchildren: Janie Hayes and husband Jimmy Bisese of Washington, D.C., Danny Hayes of Washington, D.C., and Cindy Hayes of Austin, Texas; and, numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dr. James Love Dunagin; and her husband of 50 years, Dr. L. Henning Mayfield.

    The family would like to express special thanks to her devoted and loving caregivers, Rose Sanchez, Ruby Thomas, Juanita Smith and Greta Flowers.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Miss., Christ Community Health Services, or Memphis Union Mission.
