UNION – A graveside service for Kenneth Donald Bynum will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Little Rock. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Bynum, 87, of Meridian, passed Monday, Feb. 25, 2013. He was born July 21, 1925, in Decatur. He graduated in 1943 from Beulah Hubbard High School, where he was an outstanding basketball player and team captain. Mr. Bynum entered the United States Navy on Aug. 17, 1943, and served three years at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.
Mr. Bynum received his associate in arts degree from Meridian Community College in 1954. He was employed with financial institutions as manager from 1946-1961. He also worked in the financial department of Owen Brothers Packing Company for 18 years, and then joined Mosby Packing Company as a purchasing agent. Mr. Bynum retired in 1990. Mr. Bynum was a life-long member of Midway Baptist Church.
Mr. Bynum and his wife, Verna Ruth Harrison, were married for 68 years. They were life-long residents of Meridian. Mr. Bynum was a faithful and loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Ruth Harrison; granddaughter, Sarah Bynum of Memphis, Tenn.; grandson, Brandon Bynum of Ellisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bynum was preceded in death by his mother, Nola Agnes Parks Bynum; his father, Nathan Clark Bynum; his brother, Jack F. Bynum; and his two sons, Kenneth Buryl Bynum and James L. “Buddy” Bynum.
