Laurence Smith Jr.

MERIDIAN —

    Memorial services for Laurence “Pete” Smith Jr. will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at Webb Chapel with Justin Culpepper and Gary Pickett officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Smith, 78, of Toomsuba, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Bedford Care Center in Marion. He was the owner of Pete’s Cards and Comics. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War, and was also a shriner.

    Survivors include his daughters: Anna Moreno and Vicki Smith, both of Meridian; grandchildren: Christina Moreno, Veronica Culpepper (Justin), Anna Moreno and Juan Moreno; five great-grandchildren; brothers: Wayne Smith (Judy), Lance Smith, and Ronnie Smith; and, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

    He is preceded in death by his wife, Drucilla Smith; and grandson, SSGT Ricardo C. Moreno.

    In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave. 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
