Patsy V. Perry

MERIDIAN —     Services for Patsy Verda Williams Perry will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union. Bro. Brent Parks will officiate with burial at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Milling Funeral Home of Union is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Perry, 78, of Decatur, died Saturday, July 13th, 2013. Patsy was born in Mobile, Ala. on January 28th, 1935 to Hazel Vance-Williams and Forrest Williams. She was then raised as a military child by her mother and stepfather all over the Southeast. Her teen years were in Memphis where she met her husband in 1951.

After becoming a Navy wife, she, as in everything in her life, did a wonderful job of it.  She raised four wonderful children while moving every few years or so. She handled all this with grace and confidence and really made a navy life a good life for her family.

Patsy was an involved person within every community in which she lived. She helped start a volunteer program at Laird Hospital, helped organize a United Givers fund of Decatur, worked with the PTO, helped organize the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce, and was an advocate for many other programs. She attended the Church of Christ for 60 years and was a member of the Newton Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Allen Perry of Decatur; two daughters, Deborah Miller and her husband David of Decatur; Carmen Beaubeaux and her husband Jim of Coronado, Calif.; two sons, Carl Perry and his wife Dawana of Zion, Ill.; Christopher Perry and his wife Sherrie of Decatur; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; two sisters, Carol Barlow of American Fork, Utah and Joan Williams of Foley, Ala. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Beth Miller; her brother, Ted Kerske; her mother and father.

Pallbearers will be Michael Perry, Christopher Beaubeaux, David Miller, Jim Beaubeaux, Graham Clark and Gabriel Miller.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
