V. O. Collins

MERIDIAN —     UNION — Services for Mr. V. O. Collins will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Union with burial in Union City Cemetery. Rev. Marcus Finch and Rev. Jon Martin will be officiating.

    Mr. Collins, 97, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Laird Hospital of Union.

    Survivors include a son, Danny Collins and wife Kathryn of Madison, one grandaughter, Ashley Nicole “Nikki” Collins of Madison

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ms. Pauline Hodges Collins.

     Mr. V.O. Collins, retired president of Peoples Bank of MS, served in the banking industry for fifty years. He served as president and finished his career on the board of directors. A World War II Veteran, he served at Turner Field in Albany, GA and later in England.

     Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. today, May 19, 2013 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.

    Pallbearers: Kenneth Jones, Dan Griffin, P.J. Henry, Randy Winterstein, Wayne Parker & Benny Ware

    Honorary Pallbearers include: Marcus Gordon, Max Sessums, Bill Ussery, Howell Thrash, Claude Livingston & Billy Scott Cassel

    In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Union, where Mr. Collins was a church member.
