Thelma Etta Rider

MERIDIAN —

    Services for Thelma Etta Rider will be held today at 9:30 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Scott Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be in Hamrick Cemetery.

    Mrs. Rider, 97, of Mesquite, Texas, formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Christian Care Center in Mesquite.

    Survivors include two daughters: Owilna Rider Soules and Georgia "Joy" Rider (Larry) Buchanan; a son-in-law, Howard Madision; seven grandchildren, Belinda, Bryan (Angela), Heather, Amy (Michael), Lacy (Wesley), Kerry (Missy) and Michael (Katherine); 11 great-granchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Doyle Scitzs (Maxine); and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, G.W. and Mary Etta Smith Scitzs; daughter, Olivia Rider Madison; eight brothers; and six sisters.

    Pallbearers will be Kerry Crenshaw, Michael Taylor, Michael Parker, Steven Scitzs, Randy Walker and Dillan McElhenney.

    Visitation will be today, from 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m., at the funeral home.
