Charles Edward Kernop

MERIDIAN —     Services for Charles Edward Kernop, 73, of Brandon, formerly of Meridian, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Sonny Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Collinsville First Baptist Cemetery.

    Mr. Kernop passed away Friday in Ridgeland. He was a native of Madison County, Vietnam Air Force Veteran of four years, retired from MS Valley Gas (Atmos Energy) with 36 years of service, member of Moose Lodge # 1628 since 1983 and spent 11 wonderful years traveling and camping in his motor home.

    Survivors include his wife, Cherryl Mixon Kernop of Brandon; son, Charlie Frank (Leigh Ann) Kernop of Meridian; step daughters, Pam (Bernie) Herrington of Pelahatchie, and Paula (Mike) Richards of Collinsville; three grandchildren, Will Herrington, Caroline Herrington, and Sarah Richards; a sister, Frances (Jim) Ferguson of Brandon; his niece, Linda (Al) Bishop of Ridgeland and nephew, Danny Pope of Madison also survive him.

    Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Catherine Kernop.

    Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at Stephens Funeral Home.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Collinsville First Baptist Cemetery Fund.
