William R. “Bill” Overby, Sr.

MERIDIAN —     Graveside services for William R. Overby, Sr. will be held today at 3 p.m., at Pine Hill Cemetery in Enterprise with Pastor Chuck Overby officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. Overby, 81, of Enterprise, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his residence. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army. He was a former Golden Gloves champion in Mississippi. Mr. Overby was renowned in the financial district in New Orleans. He was an avid power boat racer and currently holds three world records in the sport.

    He is survived by his daughter, Denise Overby-Reyes; son, William R. Overby, Jr.; grandchildren: William R. Overby, III, Cobert V. Overby, Sr., and Edward E. Overby; great grandson, Cobert V. Overby, Jr.; and a sister, Eloise Carlisle.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, John Claude and Marvella Overby; siblings: John Overby, Fred Overby, Helen Askew, Norman Overby, Robert “Bob” Overby, Charles Overby, Rebecca Miller, and James “Junior” Overby.

    Pallbearers will be: William R. Overby, III, Cobert V. Overby, Sr., Edward E. Overby, Manuel Reyes, and Cobert V. Overby, Jr.
