C.B. Powell

MERIDIAN —     Services for C.B. Powell will be held today, at 10 a.m., at the Chapel of Bumpers Funeral Home, in York, with Rev. Gillian Walters and Rev. Carl Sudduth officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Choctaw County with Bumpers Funeral Home of York in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Powell, 75, of Livingston, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. He was a retired truck driver for Larkin Oil and the owner and operator of Powell Lawn Service.

    Survivors include: wife, Jeanette Powell of Livingston; son, Scott Powell (Alison) of Livingston; sisters: Fenella Thomas of Mobile, Johnnie Mae Stewart of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Inez Radcliffe of York, Faye Leddon of Ward; and a host of nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Essie Mae Powell; sisters, Katie Lou Duke and Peggy Jones.

    Pallbearers are: James Smith, Tucker Spidle, Lee Thomas, Billy Averett, Randy Martin, and Thomas Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers are: David Larkin and former employees of Larkin Oil Co., past and present employees of Powell Lawn Service, Lester Powell, David Gibson, Mike Thomas, and Robert Jones.

    The family requests memorials be made to Brewersville Methodist Church or to the Pine Grove Cemetery Fund.
