    NEWTON — Charles Gordon Maske, 78 of Newton, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence in Newton, MS. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Newton with Bro. Steve Robinson and Bro. Donnie Powell officiating. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Newton County Funeral Home South, Newton and 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church prior to service. Burial was at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home of Newton was in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Maske was a Deacon of Cedar Grove Baptist Church,Trustee of Woodmen of the World, Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, served in the U.S. Army in Korea and retired with 21 years of service in the MS Army National Guard as 1st SGT for the 4th/114th Field Artillery, Headquarters Battery, Newton. He worked for McMullan Motor Co. for 12 years, Co-Owner of James Willis & Son Koppers Co, Inc. for 13 years, Anderson Tully Co. for 14 years and an employee at the Newton County Landfill.

    Survivors include his Wife Sarah Elizabeth Willis Maske, Newton; two sons: Steven Charles Maske and wife Linda, Newton, and James Gordon (Bo) Maske, Nashville, Tenn.; grandson, William Cody Maske, Newton; brother, Wayne Maske and wife Kay, Newton; sister, Dorothy Maxine Fowler, Byrum; special friends, Vanessa Wall and Celeste Hurst; several nieces and nephews.

    Preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Alexander and Louise Gaines Maske; grandson, Steven Tyler Maske; brother, J.E. (Gene) Maske.

    Pallbearers: U.S. Army Military Personnel Honorary Pallbearers:  Richard Woodham, Kent Mayes, Douglas Mayes, Bubba Bonds, Jeff McKee, Bob Williams, Ronnie Nicholson , Chris Shimfessell and Armand Therrion.
