Darryl Wayne Malone was born on Sept. 10, 1964, to the late Flossie Williams Malone and Lee Cutis (L.C.) Malone Sr. in Meridian. He was the sixth child born to this union. Mr. Malone, 49, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, in Vista, Calif.
Darryl graduated from Meridian High School in 1982. He was on the famous MHS Wildcat Football team where he played Offensive Lineman.
Darryl moved to California about 25 years ago. He studied at Cypress College in Cypress, Calif. and was a member of Epsilon Nu Delta fraternity. He graduated in 1992 becoming a funeral director/embalmer with Hobbs-J.S. Williams Mortuary in Los Angeles, Calif. Darryl worked with Simpson Family Mortuary in Los Angeles. He was currently working at Allen Brothers Mortuary in Vista where he was the Chapel Manager. While working in this profession his faith became stronger and he believed in almighty God.
Darryl was a member of the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos and had served on the Membership and Community Service Committees. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #365 where he served as President of the Sons of the American Legion and President of the American Legion Riders. Darryl will always be remembered for his enthusiasm for helping others, the twinkle in his eyes, and the brilliant smile that always graced his face.
Darryl leaves to cherish one son, Quentin Jones; one granddaughter, Gabreona McAlister; two sisters, Kathy Malone Shaw and Essie Malone (Johnny) Morgan; two brothers, Lee Curtis (Rickey) Malone Jr. and his wife, Saundra Hinkle Malone and William Malone and his wife, Beatrice Presswood Malone.
Darryl was blessed with five nephews and their wives: Kevin (Shae) Boyd, Derrick (Cheryl) Boyd, Quincy (Kris) Gaddy, Lee Curtis (Verletta) Malone III, and Tony (Angelica) Morgan. He also has one niece, Briaunna Malone. Darryl leaves to cherish a dear friend of the family, Mrs. Lauretta Robertson of Los Angeles. Darryl was blessed with a host of relatives and friends.
Darryl is preceded in death by his mother and father and one brother, Terry Wayne Malone.
Visitation and local services will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 9 a.m., with the service starting at 12 noon at the Allen Brothers Mortuary Vista Chapel, 1315 S. Santa Fe Avenue, Vista CA 92083.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Fitkins Memorial Church of the Nazarene and burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Enterprise Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
