Sally Ruth Graham Loper

MERIDIAN —

    NEWTON - Services for Sally Ruth Graham Loper will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m., at Newton County Funeral Home North with Rev. Mark Vincent officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens with Newton County Funeral Home North in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Loper passed away at Saturday, April 6, 2013, at her home in Decatur surrounded by her family and friends. She was born to Charlie Lee and Lillie Pearl Graham on May 1, 1929 in Decatur. She was a member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church in Decatur. She loved her church family. She had a 35 year career with AVON, winning many sales awards and contests. She also worked at the Decatur Shirt Factory for 25 years. Some of her passions included cooking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers, tending to them and maintaining her yard. She loved sewing for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ruth loved her grand babies, affectionately known as "Mamaw Loper" and "Mamaw with the Cows." She was a very selfless person, always willing to help others in need, and she had a generous giving spirit. She will be missed by many.

    Survivors include two daughters: Brenda Elaine Clearman and husband Herman Clearman Jr. of Meridian, and Gwendolyn P. Burns and husband Robert E. Burns of Brandon; six grandchildren: Sonya Moss and husband Jason Moss of Pearl, Shelley Little and husband Brad Little of Brandon, Lisa Rigdon Irwin of Brandon, Deanna Adkins Hanner of Decatur, Carl Adkins of Jackson, and Stephanie Reed Ward of Meridian; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Pearl Sims of Ocean Springs; and one brother, Mike Conner Graham of Decatur.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Carl Durward Loper; one daughter, Felicia Ruth Loper Arthur; one granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Adkins; parents, Charlie Lee Graham and Lillie Pearl Crawford Graham; and, siblings: Delphia Myrtle Graham, Joseph Graham, Lucy Inez Graham, G. K. Graham, Charlie Lewis Graham, Lizzie Viola Graham, John William Graham, Henton Cook Graham, Thomas Chester Graham, and Dock Clayton Graham.

    Pallbearers will be Blake Humphreys, Ty Garner, Tyler Froelich, Ryan Hanner, Jimmy Garner, and Kenneth Pettigrew.    
    The family wishes to express their appreciation to the physicians, Dr. Whitehead, and Dr. Touchstone, and their staffs for the care given to their loved one.

    Visitation will be today, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and one hour before the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
