Dorothy (Dotsy) Samuelson Fisher

MERIDIAN —     METAIRIE, La. – Graveside services for Dorothy (Dotsy) Samuelson Fisher will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Chevra Thilim Memorial Park in New Orleans. Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Fisher, devoted wife and mother, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the age of 84. Dotsy was the daughter of Samuel Samuelson, Rebecca Samuelson and Jennie Samuelson.

    Dotsy was a 1948 graduate of Sophie Newcomb College, where she majored in fine arts. She then worked in the family business, Lane’s Shoe Store on Dryades Street for many years and was a most valued team member of the “Jack Fisher Real Estate Dynasty.” She was loved, admired and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

    She is survived by four children, Briann (Melvin) Shear, Marc (Jimmie Kay) Fisher, Jodi (Scott) Levitan and Ricki Fisher; nine grandchildren, Marci, Seth, Heather, Derrick, Jennie, Aaron, Eli, Julie and Jason; and two great-granddaughters, Sammi and Millie.

    She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Fisher; and her eight siblings.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation or Jewish Children’s Regional Service.
