Joseph Edward Chappell Sr.

MERIDIAN —     Memorial services for Joseph E. Chappell Sr. will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in DeKalb with Rev. Harvey Troutman officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Mr. Chappell, 88, of Orlando, Fla., died Sept. 12, 2012, in Orlando. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired after 22 years of faithful and devoted service. He earned many meritorious service awards including the World War II Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal. His professional accomplishments, leadership and devotion to duty have been an inspiration to those with whom he has been associated.

    Survivors include his son, Joseph E. Chappell Jr. and wife Linda; daughters: Nancy Chappell Bilardo and husband Phil, and Carrie Anne Chappell Combs and husband Bobby; sons: Jerry Lee Chappell and wife Kyle, and John Earl Chappell; and, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper E. and Carrie Edwards Chappell; his first wife, Daisy Lou Cullum Chappell; son, James E. Chappell; second wife, Karen C. Chappell; and daughter, Virginia Dale Chappell Decker.
