Joe Lee Buie, Jr.

MERIDIAN —     Services for Joe Lee Buie, Jr. will be held Thursday at 2pm at Webb Chapel with Reginald Ginn officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Buie, 97, of Meridian, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his residence. He was retired from Ms. Valley Gas Company. Mr. Buie was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force.

    He is survived by his wife, Rachel Hammond Buie; daughter in law, Suzette Buie Sullivan and “adopted” son Jerry; grandchildren, Andrew Puckett Buie, Sr. and wife Katie, and Angela Buie Walters and husband Matt; great grandchildren, Andrew Puckett Buie, Jr. “A.J.”, Kasen Leigh Buie, Kodie Jo Buie, Colston Buie Walters, and Annabella Sage Walters; sister, Elsa Jenkins and husband James; sister in law, Suzanne Beasley; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Lee Buie, Sr. and Emma Ball Buie; son, Joe Lee Buie, III; daughter, Sandra Kay Buie; brother, George A. Buie and wife Thelma; sister, Mary Ruth McLemore and husband Buddy; and brother, Robert Hugh Buie and wife Nell.

    Pallbearers will be Jerry Sullivan, Andrew Buie, Matt Walters, Ronnie Beech, Joe Hoadley, and Tim Beech.

    Visitation will be Thursday from 12-2 pm at the funeral home.
