Miriam Delores 'Patsy' Newell Walker

MERIDIAN —     Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. for Miriam Delores "Patsy" Newell Walker at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with visitation held one hour prior to the service with Dr. John Temple officiating.  Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near the Naval Air Station.

    Mrs. Walker, 82, passed away on Saturday at Rush Hospital in Meridian.

    A lifetime member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church in Meridian, Mrs. Walker was a homemaker. She was also the proud grandmother of three grandchildren:  Walker Gregory  Hyche, David Justin Tisdale, and Lindsey Nicole Tisdale.

     Mrs. Walker will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and strong Christian lady who put others first and who always had a positive outlook on ilfe, regardless of any physical challenges that came her way.

    Among her survivors are a brother, Malcolm Newell, two daughters, Laura Hyche, and her husband, Dwight, and Lela Tisdale and her husband, David.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Enos S. Walker, her parents, Emmett and Lela Kittrell Newell, seven brothers:  Herman, Cluis, Mocell, Doyle, E.T., Elmo, and Altus Newell,  and a sister, Christine McKellar.

    The family requests that memorials be made to Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church in Meridian, or any other charity of choice.

    Pallbearers will be Mike Newell, Floyd Dozier, Jim Copeland, Charles Brown, Tom Johnson and Ken Covington.
