    QUITMAN – Services for Colonel David Wood Lacy will be held today, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Quitman. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Wright’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.        

    Colonel Lacy, 81, of Quitman, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at The Specialty Hospital in Meridian. He was born Dec. 10, 1931, to Lewis Franklin Lacy and Jesse Yowell Lacy in Madison County, Va. After graduating Virginia Tech, Dave began a distinguished military career that included assignments across the globe. His many honors and awards for 43 years in uniform are evidence of the commitment and loyalty to his country. That dedication is only surpassed by the love and commitment to his Lord and his family. A southern gentleman with the sweetest, loving spirit best describes him. Dave was an active member of First Baptist Church, Quitman, and the Military Officers Association of America.

    Survivors include his wife, Judy Housman Lacy of Quitman; sons: Mike Lacy, daughter-in-law Heather, and grandson Zack of Stillwater, Minn., and Greg Lacy and daughter-in-law Cindy of Alexandria, Va.; and brother, Franklin Lacy and his wife Evelyn of Madison, Va. Other survivors include Inez’s children: Deborah Nordstrom and husband Mike of Surfside Beach, S.C., and Doug Morse of Virginia Beach, Va., and their families; Judy’s three daughters and their families: Angela and Stephan Harris and children, Austin and Abby of Katy, Texas, Suzanne and Greg Young and daughters, Emily and Adair of Raleigh, and Laurie Myatt also of Raleigh.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Inez Sellers Lacy.
