Mertice Walden

MERIDIAN —     Services for Mertice Walden will be held today, Feb. 25, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Walton officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home of Union in charge of arrangements.

    Ms. Walden, 92, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. She never met a stranger and would feed anyone if they were hungry. Ms. Walden was a passionate woman who loved whole-heartedly and enjoyed gardening and cats.

    Survivors include two granddaughters, Lisa Barnes and husband Frankie, and Luci Haskins; grandson, Thomas Walden; three great grandchildren: Savanna Walden, Preston Barnes and Ridge Walden.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Walden; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John and Sudie Goforth; two sons, James Henry Walden and Jimmy O’Neal Walden; one sister, Elmer Barton.

    Pallbearers will be: Preston Barnes, RL Goforth, Jimmy Long, Brian Walton, Tony Sansing and Jerry Goforth.
