MERIDIAN —      Services for James Dixon “Jim” Keene, Jr. will be held Monday at 12 noon at Webb Chapel with Rev. John Temple officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

     Mr. Keene, 91, of Meridian, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Infinity Hospice. He was a retired telephone employee with AT&T. Mr. Keene was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

     He is survived by his wife, Peggy Keene; step sons, Dewayne Nance and wife Dottie, and T.J. Nance and wife Kim; grandchildren, Tiffany, Zachary, and Rachel Nance of Detroit, Texas, Morgan Wall, Cayley, Annaclaire, and Hayes Nance all of Collinsville; sister, Kitty Cobler; brother, Stan Keene and wife Coleen of Columbus, Ga.; special niece, Marylynn Gladstein and husband Andy of California; special nephew, Clayton Cobler and wife Lou; and several other nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dixon Keene, Sr. and Flora Walker Keene; brother, Elmer Keene; and a sister, Babe.

     Pallbearers will be Doc Braswell, Chuck Shepard, Leon O’Bryan, Doug Harden, Mike Sterling, and Tommy Stephens. Honorary pallbearer will be Dewayne Gunn.

     The family requests memorials be made to Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church Building Fund.
