Services for William F. “Bill” Hall will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Reverends Drew Dabbs and Bill Webb officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn.
Mr. Hall, 74, of Meridian, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Rush Foundation Hospital.
William Frederick “Bill” Hall was born March 26, 1940, to Harry and Minnie Hunt Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his education from Withrow High School in Cincinnati and Mohegan Community College in Mohegan, Conn. After high school, he served in the United States Navy from 1958 to February 1988 and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer.
Illustrious Sir Hall is married to the former Sarah Hardy and he has three adult children. He and his wife are members of the first Baptist Church in Marion, where he taught Sunday School. He was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in North Chicago Lodge No. 1095 in Great Lakes, Ill., on June 25, 1964 and is a member of E.J. Knox-King Solomon Lodge No. 130 in Russell. He served as Worshipful Master in 2005 and 2006. He was Exalted, Greeted and Knighted in the Meridian York Rite Bodies on November 7, 1998. He served as presiding officer of all three bodies. He was initiated in the Order of the Eastern Star in Great Lakes, Illinois in 1965 and was a member of Meridian Chapter #11 and Grover Burnett Chapter #352 and Past Worthy Patron of both. He received the Consistory Degrees in the Valley of North Chicago in 1965 and is a member and 33rd degree honorary in Meridian Scottish Rite Bodies. He received the ceremonies of the A.A.O.N.M.S in 1990 at Hamasa Shrine in Meridian and was serving on the Divan as Potentate. Other Masonic affiliations are: Super Excellent Master’s Degree, Grand Council of Anointed High Priest of MS, Thrice Illustrious Masters of MS, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, MS York Rite College No. 83, MS Priory No. 36, Knight York Cross of Honor, St. Jude Conclave Red Cross of Constantine and the Order of Knights Preceptor of MS. Illustrious Sir Hall received the General Grand Council Cryptic Mason of the Year Award in 2010. He served as Grand Representative to Mississippi from Indiana in the Grand Chapter, Grand Representative to Mississippi from Indiana in the Grand Council and Grand Representative to Mississippi from Ohio in the Grand Commandery. Illustrious Sir Hall was elected as Grand Captain of the Guard in 2010, Grand Principal Conductor of the Work in 2011, Deputy Grand Master in 2012 and served as Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Mississippi, R & S M.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Hall of Meridian; son, James A. Hall Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Lauderdale; daughters, Billie Jo Hatcher and Melody Alday, both of Lauderdale; son, Keith Mooney and his wife, Karen, of West Point; daughter, Jan Mooney of Decatur, Ga.; grandchildren, Kelly Goad and her husband, Jason, Cory Brown and his wife, Jennifer, Kady Sanders and her husband, Kevin, Samuel Hall and his wife, Lakayla, Brianna Hall, Alex Alday, Bobbie Jo Hatcher, Marion Hill and her husband, Travis, Steven Bryan, Andrew Mooney and Ashley Mooney and five great grandchildren; sister, Roberta Fucito of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Lee Hall; his parents, Harry and Minnie Hunt Hall; daughter, Tammy Hall; son-in-law, Arthur Hatcher; grandsons, James Hall, Jr. and William F. Hall II.
