Bro. John West

MERIDIAN —     Services for Bro. John David West, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. today at Newton County Funeral Home South Chapel in Newton with Bro. Mike Everett, Bro. Wayne Sellers and Bro. Tam Maddox officiating. Burial will follow in The Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Newton. Newton County Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

            Bro. West, 84 of Newton, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his residence in Newton. He was currently serving as pastor at Good Hope Baptist Church in Hickory.

            He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma Myers West of Newton; one son, John  David West Jr. of Newton; two daughters: Kaye Ganann of Marion, Ark. and Renee Davis and husband Steven of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother, T. W. West of Smithdale; one sister, Thelma Mullins of Boyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Addison West and Lillie Jane Ballard West; daughter, Gloria Jean West; grandchild, Katherine Lynn Davis; and ten brothers and sisters.

    Pallbearers are John David West III, Jonathan E West, Stanley C West, Joseph R Ganann, Joe Breland, and Cory Byrd. Honorary Pallbearers are Dillon Breland, Larry Ganann, Joey Williams, and Joshua Davis.
