Helen O. Chaney

MERIDIAN —     Services for Helen O. Chaney will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Fifth Street Baptist Church with Apostle W. C. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Helen went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014. She was born Feb. 19, 1922 in Meridian to the late John Owens and Ruby Jones.

    She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving sister, Dorothy (Roosevelt) Nicholson of Meridian; six daughters: Betty J. (James) Williams and Mary A. Taylor, both of Meridian, Dorothy M. Smith and Sandra F. Miller, both of St. Louis, Mo., Dr. Geraldine (Jessie) Chaney-Buie of Jackson, and Dr. Gloria E. (Max) Chambliss of Detroit, Mich.; three sons, Robert R. Chaney, Jr. and David E. (Maxine) Chaney, both of Detroit, Mich. and Reginald D. Chaney of St. Louis, Mo.; and honorary grandchild, Yolanda Buie Pitts of Dallas, Texas. She also leaves behind a legacy of 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, John Owens and Ruby Jones; husband, Robert Raymond Chaney; daughter, Gloria Helen; sisters, Eartha Foy and Cleaster Hill; and brother, Larry Jones.

    Visitation will be Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fifth Street Baptist Church.
