MERIDIAN —     Graveside services for Kenneth Ray Cook will be held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. from Lynville Cemetery in Preston with Rev. Karen Evans and Rev. Chris Gully officiating. McClain Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Cook, 61, of Preston, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at his residence.

    He was born and reared in the Lynville community of Kemper County. After graduation, he began working for The Meridian Star where he worked for 42 years as a photographer and plate room manager. Mr. Cook loved to hunt, fish, and watch birds and also enjoyed studying history.

    Survivors include his sister, Brenda Whittington (David) of Preston; nephew, Dale Whittington of St. Louis, Mo.; great-nephew, D.J. Whittington of St. Louis, Mo.; aunts, Maxine Wilson of Brandon and Kay Furline (Pete) of Meridian; and numerous cousins.

    Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Joyce Cook.

    Pallbearers will be Terry Cook, John Cook, Britt Gully, Matthew Smith, Terry Wayne Cook III, Joseph Cook, and Christian Cook.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
