MERIDIAN —     Services for Mary Elizabeth Embrey Cooley were held Monday, July 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church  with Bro. Billy Ray Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

    Mrs. Cooley, 83, of Hickory, went to her eternal home on Saturday, July 27th.

    Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Gary) Joiner of Hickory; special niece Bertie (Austin) Lindley of Hickory; daughter in law, Wanda Taylor (Rev Clay Cooley deceased); grandchildren: Michele (Ronald) Robinson, of Hickory; Tiffany (Kevin) Levy of Spanish Fort, Ala.; Shannon (Stephanie) Cooley, of Decatur; Shea (Ryan) Best of Saraland, Ala.; Crystal (Jason) Willis of Philadelphia;  Jeremy (Morgan) Joiner of Hickory; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Albert (Barbara) Embry, Merle Harwell, Grace Griffin, J.V. (Senora) Embrey, and Nora Jean (Tommy) Majure and numerous nieces and nephews.

    She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Gene Cooley and beloved son, the Rev. Clay Cooley; parents A.C. and Nora Embrey, and sister, Geralene Pugh.
