MERIDIAN —     Services for Mr. Bobby Brooks Addy will be held 11 a.m. Monday  at Decatur United Methodist Church with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Milling Funeral Home of Union.

    Mr. Addy, 76, of Decatur, died Friday at his residence.

    Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Pat Addy of Decatur; his daughter, Brookes Stevens and husband Ricky of Decatur; his son David Addy of Newton, his granddaughter Lindsey Stevens and fiancée Jody Blount; his grandson, Jeremy Stevens of Ocean Springs; his great grandson Manny Stevens of Ocean Springs; his sister Brenda Addy of Decatur; two brothers, Jimmy Addy and Larry Addy, both of Decatur; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Mr. Addy was preceded in death by his parents, Avery and Mable Addy, as well as two brothers, Henry Addy and Bill Addy.

    Mr. Addy was a member of Decatur United Methodist Church. He was actively involved in the Decatur Jaycees, Decatur Lions Club, Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce and Decatur Country Club.

    For over 20 years, Mr. Addy served as mayor of Decatur and served on the Board of Alderman.

He was a community volunteer who spent much of his time doing special projects for ECCC and Newton County High School. He always had time for his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play softball and golf. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman.

    He owned and operated a convenient store for over 25 years in Decatur. After retiring from the convenient store, he worked at the Decatur Country Club, which he helped develop, until he retired in December 2012.

    Pallbearers are Wayne Comans, Pat O’Neill, Chris Harris, Doyle Moore, Roy Lucroy and Scott Hill.

Honorary Pallbearers are John Blount, Carl Hollingsworth, Terry McMullan, the Decatur Coffee Club, the Lions Club, the Methodist Men, and Senior Golfers.
