Hortense W. Ford

MERIDIAN —             Services for Hortense W. Ford age 93 of Meridian will be held Thursday 10:30 a.m. in Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 

            Mrs. Ford was a native of Newton County, grew up in Hattiesburg and graduated from Hattiesburg High in 1937. She also graduated Business College in Jackson. She lived in Meridian the past 67 years and retired from Lauderdale County Health Department as a district secretary. She was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist church for 65 years. 

            Survivors include her son, James H. (Jim) Ford Jr, and wife Debbie; daughter, Ann Elizabeth (Chris) Edwards; grandchildren Misty McGraw, David Cook, Amy Cook Moody, Drew Edwards and Anna Edwards Brown; great grandchildren, Taylor Hollingsworth, Baliegh Moody, Andrew Cook, Emily Cook, Caroline Cook and Annilee Brown. 

            Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert Ford Sr.; parents, Thomas Horton Webb and Pearl Gandy Webb; sister, Christine Anderson and brother, Thomas Hilton Webb. 

            Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Stephens Funeral Home.
