The Meridian Star

MERIDIAN —

Mrs. Lottie B. Anderson, 86, was born March 21, 1926 to the late Oscar Stennis and Gracie McQueen of Shuqualak. She was the second child of four. She had three brothers, of two which preceded her in death, Oscar Lee and Melvin Stennis.

"Miss Lottie," as she was  affectionately known to her many friends, had a love for those near and dear to her heart and to others. She loved the Lord and lived by his word daily. She was a faithful member of her church until her health began to fail.

She was a cook for many years and owned her own business. She enjoyed people and loved to cook. She was a nurturing individual, who took care of the elderly and all those who needed her.

God rewarded Mrs. Lottie with her own caregivers, Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel and her family who saw to it that she was well cared for. Her kind spirit and her warm and friendly smile will forever be with us. May the Lord comfort us as we grieve her loss.

Funeral services for Lottie B. Stennis Anderson were held on Saturday, March 2 at  Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Laurel where her son Rev. Scottie Thigpen officiated.

Mrs. Lottie was the owner of Lottie's Cafe which was at the corner of 5th Street and 25th Avenue, she was known throughout the community for her southern cooking and hospitality.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Scott Thigpen and to this union, nine children were born. Mrs. Lottie later married Charles Anderson and to this union two children were added.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Charles Anderson; eight daughters, Pearl Hunter, Gloria (Frank) Dancy and Nadine Briggs, all of Meridian; Vernell (Howard) Lofton, Rose Hill; Gracie (Alvin) Jackson, Duluth, Georgia: Baby Ruth Maye, Heidelburg; Debra R (Lou) Woodfork, and Pamerla M. Gallaspy of Laurel; two sons, Charles (Nina) Thigpen, Cedar Park, Texas and Rev. Scottie (Lois) Thigpen, Navarr Beach, Fla., and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
