Omera Reagan Shackelford

MERIDIAN —     Services for Omera Reagan Shackelford were held Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Stephens Funeral Home Chapel in Union. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.  Rev. Dale Moore will be officiating.

    Mrs. Shackelford, 90, of Union died Friday in Jackson. She was a retired office manager for Midland Shirt Co. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed being a homemaker and tending to her flowers in her yard, enjoying the beauty of the flowers that she had grown.

    Mrs. Shackelford loved her church, Union United Methodist of which she was a longtime member and took upon herself to visit the area nursing home residents and shut ins. She loved people and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

    Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Tedford; daughter in law, Carol Shackelford; grandchildren, Sandra Carol Shackelford, Casey Shackelford and numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Thomas W. and Maude Reagan; her husband, James R. “Jim” Shackelford; beloved son, Rickey T. Shackelford and brothers, John H. Reagan and Howard Reagan.

     The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Debra, Renado and other members of Gentiva Hospice Ministries for the care they provided Mrs. Shackelford. Special thank you is also to Sharon Boler, her caregiver and friend and to Floy Tillman for her friendship.

    Visitation was Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
