Mary Frances Gardner

MERIDIAN —     Services for Mary Frances Gardner will be held today, Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton with Bro. Chris Vowell and Bro. Mark Vincent officiating.  Burial will be in Pine Bluff Cemetery with Newton County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Gardner, 86 of Decatur, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at her residence. She was a wonderful babysitter and was a great cook. She enjoyed working in her yard. Spending time with family and friends was very special to her. Traveling with her late husband and friends was a favorite past time.

    Survivors include two daughters, Bettye Barnett and husband Rusty, and Brenda Parkes, both of Decatur; four grandchildren:  Clay Barnett and wife Patsy of Decatur,  Brandi Baucum and husband Jamie of Newton, Kristen Butler and husband, Gary of Starkville,  and Jade Parkes and wife, Stacy, of Decatur; seven great-grandchildren: Andy Barnett, Kayla Baucum, Dylan Barnett, Tate Baucum, Caleb Butler, Clayton Butler, and Maggie Butler.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Gardner; her parents, Barto and Grace Warren Shockley and two brothers, Woodrow Shockley and John Warren Shockley.  

    Pallbearers will be Clay Barnett, Jade Parkes, Jamie Baucum, Gary Butler, Andy Barnett, and Tommy Shockley.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Dylan Barnett, Tate Baucum, Caleb Butler, and Clayton Butler.  

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Bluff Baptist Church, c/o Raymond Hollingsworth, 675 Turkey Creek Rd., Decatur, MS 39327 or Clarke Venable Baptist Church, 632 West. Broad St., Decatur, MS 39327
