MERIDIAN — Funeral services for Ida Mae Martin will be held today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, Tylertown, with Dr. Carl White officiating. Burial will be in Boyd Cemetery with Capps Funeral Home, Tylertown, in charge of arrangements.              

     Mrs. Martin, 89, died on Sept. 30, 2013, in Meridian. She was born in Dublin, to Albert Russell Hawkins, Sr., and Nettie Belle Hawkins.

    A graduate of Marion Walthall High School, Mrs. Martin later attended business school in Jackson. In 1943, she married Nolan Martin, and they shared 52 years together until his death in 1995. In 2001, she married Herbert Martin.

    Mrs. Martin was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and leaves a legacy of faith in Christ through her enduring commitment to Bible study, mission organizations, prayer, and Christian service to others.

     Survivors include two daughters, Carole Greer and her husband Willie Greer, MD, of Meridian, and Linda Martin of Meridian; two step-sons, Ralph Martin and Buddy Martin; four grandchildren, Willie Greer and his wife Cindy of Clinton, Andrea Gramm and her husband David of Hernando, Rachael Greer and her husband Bill Malchow of New Orleans, and Christy Turner and her husband Scott Turner, MD, of Birmingham; and nine great-grandchildren.

    She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Howard Hawkins, Clarence Hawkins, Chelsy Hawkins, Albert Russell Hawkins, Jr.; one sister, Ruth Bearden; two husbands, Nolan Martin and Herbert Martin; and one step-daughter, Vera Mae Vince.

    Visitation will be held today, Thursday at the church from 12 noon until service time.
