Albert Ladell Emerson Sr.


    Services for Albert Ladell Emerson Sr. will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at New Cannan Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Emerson, 74, of Meridian, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at his residence. He was a retired brick mason and U.S. veteran.

    Survivors include his wife, Jo Jean Emerson of Meridian; son, Albert (Katrisha) Emerson Jr. of Meridian; three brothers: Henry (Val) Emerson of Meridian, Wayne (Peggy) Emerson of Meridian, and Roy (Elnora) Emerson of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters: Doris E. (Woodia) Lewis of Virginia, and Joyce E. Coleman of Compton, Calif.; three granddaughters: Courtney (Lance) Emerson Bolden, Mayah Emerson, and Kayla Emerson, all of Meridian; two great-grandsons: Kaden and Christian Bolden, both of Meridian; three aunts: Annie Emerson of Meridian, Mary Magdalene Smith of Staten Island, N.Y., and Mable Emerson of Meridian; and, a host of other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ada Emerson; one sister, Elouise Ellis; and, four brothers: Alexander, Jimmie, Marshall, and Oscar Emerson

    Visitation will be Friday, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
