Nancy Cleckley

Graveside services for Nancy Cleckley will be held today, at 11:30 a.m., at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Bonita, with Rev. Roy Dabbs officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cleckley, 70, of Meridian, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was an unabashedly stubborn woman, whose strength of will was only matched by her determination. She was the rock upon which her daughter and closest friends leaned upon in the toughest of times. Even people who disliked her counted upon her strength and ability to take the worst of situations and turn them around. She often tried to see the good in people despite this quality being used against her. To the end she held out hope. She was very proud of her daughter’s writing ability.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Marie Cleckley; sister, Fredna Pickard; step-father, John Shumate; niece, Rhonda Morris; great-niece, Madelyn Morris; adopted daughter, Susan Massy; and her cats, Coonie and Lucky.

Family and friends may sign the online memorial, leave a personal note for the family or order flowers at

Visitation will be today, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
