Thelma Etta Rider

MERIDIAN —

    Services for Thelma Etta Rider will be held Wednesday, at 9:30 p.m., at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Scott Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be in Hamrick Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home of Meridian in charge of the arrangements.

    Mrs. Rider, 97, of Mesquite, Texas, formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Christian Care Center in Mesquite, Texas.

    Survivors include two daughters: Owilna Rider Soules, and Georgia “Joy” Rider (Larry) Buchanan; son-in-law, Howard Madison; seven grandchildren: Belinda, Bryan (Angela), Heather, Amy (Michael), Lacy (Wesley), Kerry (Missy), and Michael (Katherine);  11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Doyle Scitxs (Maxine); and, numerous loving nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, G. W. and Mary Etta Smith Scitzs; daughter, Olivia Rider Madison; eight brothers; and, six sisters.

    Pallbearers will be Kerry Crenshaw, Michael Taylor, Michael Parker, Steven Scitzs, Randy Walker, and Dillan McElhenney.

    Visitation will be Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home.
