Memorial services for James T. “Jimmy” Gossett will be held Saturday, at 1 p.m., at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Gentry officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gossett, 78, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was instrumental in starting Parkinson Support Group in Meridian. Jimmy was also actively involved in planning every Southside Reunion.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Burks Gossett; sons: Terry Gossett, and Wyndell Gossett; daughters: Sharon Moore and her husband Keith, Sheryl Gossett, and Lara Collum and her husband Jeff; grandsons: Barry Murphy Jr., Justin Gossett, Josh Collum, Drake Collum, and Eli Collum; granddaughter, Chlee Henderson; great-granddaughters: Ava Catherine Henderson, Ella Kate Henderson, and Chandler Murphy; brother, Charles “Buddy” Gossett and his wife Ann; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Odell and Linda Burks; and several nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to name.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Minnie Gossett; a dearly loved son, Alan Gossett; in-laws, Alvin and Pearl Burks; and especially close friends, Joan and Eddie Chambers and two members of the quartet he sang with for many years, Bobby Rushing and Louis Wolfe.
In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to Eighth Avenue Baptist Church or The Wesley House.

Visitation will be Friday, from 5 p.m. to7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
