Services for Reverend Jimmie E. Gunn will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Prospect Presbyterian Church.
Reverend Gunn, 82, of Meridian, died Monday, July 01, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, earning the rank of Captain. Mr. Gunn was a retired Methodist Minister after serving for twenty-seven years and he also taught on the Choctaw Indian Reservation. He was also a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Gunn of the Suqualena Community; daughter, Marcia Gunn Cook and husband Roy of Bastrop, La.; granddaughters. Tina Reynolds and husband Mitch of Michigan and Bridgett Cook Carpenter and husband Jamie of Bastrop, La.; grandsons, Shannon Sarver of Alexandria, La. and Chris Gunn and wife Marzena of Tabernash, Colo. and Jacob Randall of Bailey; great-grandchildren, Michelle Wooten and husband Brandon, Taylor Laborde, Victoria and Mitch Reynolds, Coty Reynolds and wife Adriane, Hunter, Dalton, and Kyler Carpenter, Lindsey Hughes, all of Bastrop, La., Dakota Sarver of Alexandria, La., Mija Gunn of Tabernash, Colo.; great-great-grandchildren, Cayden Reynolds, Easton Hughes, and Brayden Wooten all of Bastrop, La.; step-son, Kenny Randles and wife Theresa; step-daughter, Ann Saucier and husband Wilbur, step-daughter, Jo Sprinkle; brother, William “Bill” Gunn and wife Elaine of Bailey, sisters, Thelma Thompson of Bailey, Lilybel Bounds of Chatam, Ala. and sister Carolyn Shelton and husband Ernie of Phoenix City, Ala. and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents R.H. and Thelma Gunn, son, Jerry E. Gunn; grandson Jerry E. Gunn, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law Harvey and Eileen Gunn; and sister, Bea Kinard.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Gideons or Suqualena United Methodist Church.
