Margarite Rachel Howell

MERIDIAN —     Services for Margarite Rachel Howell will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randy Scarbrough officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Beulah Cemetery in Rosedale.

    Mrs. Howell, 80, of Meridian, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 12, 1932, in Pace to Ed and Virgie Barr. Mrs. Howell graduated from Cleveland High School and married Donald Howell on Dec. 27, 1950.

    Before moving to Meridian, Mrs. Howell lived in Greenville, where she and her husband owned and operated an electronics store. They moved to Meridian in 1993 and she opened Century 21 Howell Realty. She sold the business in 2003 and retired in 2006 due to health reasons. She will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.

    Survivors include a daughter, Donna Costello and son-in-law, Tom, of Meridian; a sister, Louise Western of Oceanside, Calif.; grandchildren, Tina Page and T.J. Costello: great-grandchildren Joe Pribelsky, Tyler Sloan, Mitch Fletcher, Danielle Page, Dana Page, Tommy Costello and Claudia Jace Cornett Dobbs.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Howell; a son, Donald Hugh Howell Jr.; a brother, Thomas Barr; and her parents.

    The family requests memorials be made to Hope Village for Children, Make-A-Wish Foundation or Wesley House Community Center.

    Visitation will be held today, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
