Sybil W. Allen



JACKSON — Services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel on Clinton Blvd. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Allen, 76, died Oct. 29, 2007, at Nichols Center in Madison.

Ms. Allen was a native of Meridian, the daughter of the late Earl B. Windham and Ila B. Greenlee. She has resided in the Jackson area for more than 50 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Patterson and her husband, Dan, of Madison; grandsons, Chris Patterson and Blake Patterson, both of Madison.

Memorials may be made to Lions Club or American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.



Troy W. Stamper

Retired



Services for Troy W. Stamper will be held today at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Decatur.

Mr. Stamper, 54, of Marion, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Lauderdale United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Mississippi Private School Officiating Association. He was retired from Delco Remy-Delphi and was a United Auto Workers Representative.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Arrington Stamper of Marion; a son, Chad Tibbetts of Collinsville; step-children, Tommy Ainsworth and Shannon Ainsworth, both of Meridian and Tammy Arrington and Cory Taylor, both of Marion; his sister, Linda Stamper of Shreveport, La.; brothers, Eddie Stamper and his wife, Debbie of Decatur and Steve Stamper and his wife, Tammy, of Union; his mother-in-law, Elsie White; his special friend and his dog, Walter and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marzell and Dot Stamper.

Pallbearers will be Terry Williams, Al Jones, Corky Null, Kenneth Craven, Howard Lang, Tommy Price, Chris Thompson and Donnie Slayton.



David Wayne Merritt



PHILADELPHIA — Services for David Wayne Merritt will be held today at 2 p.m. from Macedonia United Methodist Church in Shuqualak. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Merritt, 51, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport.

Visitation will be today 1 hour prior to service at the church.



Paul Chunn



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Paul Chunn will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Chunn, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Alliance Laird Nursing Home in Union.

Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.



Arthur Alvin Adams



ALENTOWN, Pa. — Services for Arthur Alvin Adams “King Arthur” will be held Friday from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at St. Joseph Church Kerher Hall. Life Quest Anatomical is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adams, 67, died on Wednesday October 24, 2007. He born April 12, 1940, to Norman and Lula Adams. He was a longtime resident and native of Meridian.

Survivors include his daughters, Adriene Ann Adams Shelby and her husband Rodney, April Adams Morris and her husband Brandon, Sherelle Grogan; his sons, Arthur Aundre Adams, and Arfonzo Alex Adams; grandchildren, Austin Adams, Brandi Morris, and A’trell Grogan.



Lillie Clark

Retired



Services for Lillie Clark will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fifth Street Baptist Church with the Rev. William C. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Marion. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Clark, 60, of Meridian, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Louisville Care Center.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.



Curtis Hicks

Retired



Quitman — Services for Curtis Hicks were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Glen Lafferty and Grady Crowell officiating. Burial will be in East Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Clarke County.

Mr. Hicks, 93, of Quitman, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at his residence.

He was retired from Meridian Transit. He was a member of East Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Survivors include his children, Ann Ivey and, J. V., of Quitman, Shirley Weeks and Billy, of Shaw, and Mary Jane Williams and her husband, Donald, of Star City, Ark., Brenda Britt and her husband, Robert, of Clarksdale; a son, O’Neal White of Greenville; a sister, Florine Johnson, of Star City, Ark.; his first wife and dear friend, Eva White; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Junita Hicks, a son, Marcus Hicks, and his mother, Virgie Cato Hicks.



James Towner



Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for James Towner, 60, Kemper County, who died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in his home.
