Ralph Kenneth Davis Sr.



SANTA ANA, Calif. — A memorial service will be held on Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. at Christ Community Church in Milpitas. The Omega Society is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Davis, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in Tustin. He was born in Mississippi and moved to California in 1964. He lived in Woodland Hills, Newport Beach, San Jose and Escondido. He was buried in Meridian, Miss., at his request, near the graves of his parents and siblings, who have preceded him. He had faith in Jesus, and was looking forward to their reunion in Heaven. He was a member of Christ Community Church in Milpitas, and was in the choir for eight years.

Survivors include his sons, Ken Davis Jr., and Andrew Davis; his daughters, Melodie Davis and Virginia “Ginger” Surtees; grandchildren, Jennifer, Taylor, Bobby, Wesley, Jack, Eric and Andrew.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, California Fire Relief Fund or the Christ Community Church Music Ministry Fund.



Juanita Garrett



Graveside services for Juanita Garrett will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Garrett officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.

Miss Garrett, 74, of Starkville, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Oktibbeha County Hospital.

Survivors include three sisters, Wanza Tolbert, of Philadelphia, Virginia Moody and husband Richard, and Joan Clay, all of Meridian. Five nieces and five nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Tom and Irma Garrett, mother, Marie Garrett, sister, Frances Sevigny, and brother, Tom Garrett Jr.



Vera Conard Downs



Services for Vera Conard Downs will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Downs, 80, of Meridian, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital.

Mrs. Downs was born in Meridian in 1927. Following her graduation from Meridian High School in 1944 where she was a member of DBS Sorority, Mrs. Downs completed her degree from Mississippi State College for Women in 1947. Upon returning to Meridian from Orlando, FL in 1976, she was employed by Hardin’s Bakery and later the Meridian School System. She resided at Aldersgate Retirement Community for the past nine years. She cherished and enjoyed her many friends from childhood days to retirement, and her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharron Downs Landers, of Atlanta, Ga., Deborah Downs Hinkle, of Orlando, Fla., and Deana Downs Pickett, of Winter Park, Fla., one brother, Linford Conard, Jr., of Meridian, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie Lee and Linford Conard, Sr., and her sister (Elizabeth) Ann Conard, both of Meridian.

Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Frederick Landers, Sr., Richard Hinkle and David Pickett, and grandsons, Frederick Landers, Jr., Robert Battaglia, Jr., Dean Pickett and David Pickett.

Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home.



Velda Jenkins



UNION — Services for Velda Jenkins will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Bural will be in the church cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jenkins was 81 years old.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.



Otis “Doty” Richardson



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Otis “Doty” Richardson will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in the Burnside Community of Neshoba County.

Mr. Richardson, 80, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at his residence.



Clate Flannigan



MORTON — Services for Clate Flannigan will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Morton with the Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial will in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Flannigan, 81, of Meridian, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago, Ill.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home.
