Mary Ann Elizabeth Moore Ethridge



Services for Mary Ann Elizabeth Moore Ethridge were held Saturday at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Massey officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Ethridge, 98, of Meridian, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center. She was born in Neshoba County to William Ellis and Clarinda Sikes Moore. She attended elementary school at both Laurel Hill and Edinburg and finished the 10th grade at Laurel Hill and the 11th and 12th grades at Leake County Agricultural High School in Carthage in 1929.

Mrs. Ethridge moved to Meridian in 1931, and worked at different manufacturing plants until 1942. After World War II began, she took a course in airplane repair at Nashville, Tenn. from the fall of 1942 through March 1943. She repaired airplanes at Key Field during the war and earned awards for inventing a tool box and other items which were beneficial to the government and saved money by their usage.

After the war ended, she worked as a cashier at a business in Meridian. She worked in a bakery, decorating party and wedding cakes. She would decorate cakes in the design of a ship, a plane or whatever was requested for Meridian Naval Air Station. She retired in 1972 but still received calls for her cake decorating artistry for many years.

She owned and operated an apartment house and lived in one of the apartments since the 1940’s.

Survivors include her sisters, Opal Moore Mitchell of Meridian, Masie Moore Winstead of Gulfport, Mazine Moore Winstead and her husband, Elmo, of Philadelphia; brothers, Windell H. Moore of Cedar Grove N.C. and Mason T. Moore of Philadelphia; nieces and nephews, Keith Tingle, Susan Moore, Patricia Clay, Virginia Wadsworth, Carolyn Moore, Thomas Moore, Gerald Moore, Tommy Moore, Grant Moore, Susan Murray, Robbin Moore, Mason Moore Jr., Jane Grubbs, Jeanette Mullinax, Allen Winstead, Helen Juneau, David Winstead, Claire Kovac, James Winstead and Tim Winstead; and a sister-in-law, Frances Hardage Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Ethridge; parents, William Ellis and Clarinda Sikes Moore; sister, Fannie Lee Moore Tingle; brothers, Cornelius N. Moore and Jimmy W. Moore; brothers-in-law, Tom Ben Tingle, Ellis Mitchell and Bert Winstead; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Houlk Moore, Margaret Chaney Moore and Sybil Moore; nephews, Tom Kermit Tingle, John Mark Winstead and Jimmy Francis Moore.

Pallbearers will be Keith Tingle, Thomas Moore, Gerald Mitchell, Allen Winstead, David Winstead and Elmo Winstead.



Darin Edward Scott



Services for Darin Edward Scott will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be in Ford Memorial Gardens with Wright’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scott, 17, of Meridian, died, Friday, October 19, 2007 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his mother and father, Wayne & Karen Scott of Meridian, his brother, Ryan Scott of Ridgeland, MS, his half-brother, Jeff Scott of Childersburg, AL, grandmother, Elizabeth Garrison of Richmond, VA, his uncle, Jim Linton of Meridian, his uncle and aunt, Andy and Sue Linton of Meridian, cousins, Joseph Linton of Meridian, Marcus Linton of Meridian, and Matthew Linton of Meridian.

Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home.



LaBelle Frances Sherer



Services for LaBelle Frances Sherer will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park wth the funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shere, 91, of Clinton, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Belle Frances was born in Nashville, TN on June 2, 1916 to the late Dr. and Mrs. Harville Hite.

Since 1955, Belle Frances and her family have been residents of Clinton. She was a member of Mt. Salus Presbyterian Church and loyal member of Mt. Salus Women’s Circle. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother. Having a lively spirit and a contagious sense of humor, Belle Frances never met a stranger. She was loved greatly and will be missed by the lives that she touched.

She was a member of many organizations such as the Mississippi Federation of Business Professional Women, the Jackson Philatelic Society and Mended Hearts Chapter 76.

Belle Frances was a LPN at the University Medical Center for more than 16 years before her retirement. After retirement, she and her husband traveled all over the U.S.A., Canada, and the United Kingdom. Belle Frances and David were long time very active members of the Mississippi Model A Restorers Club and the Mississippi Antique Vehicle Club.

Preceding her in death are her parents, two siblings, her husband of more than 50 years, David L. Sherer, grandsons-in-law Guy Rhodes and Steve Lobby, and her daughter-in-law, Janet Sherer.

Belle Frances is survived by four children, David B. Sherer and his wife, Estelle, of Clinton, Wendy Bartley of Clinton, Steve Sherer and his wife, Phyllis, of Flowood and LaBelle Copeland and her husband, Gerry, of Meridian; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a host of extended family. They will miss her greatly and cherish their many memories of this special lady.

Belle Frances’s grandsons, Rob Bushway, David Bartley, Chad Bartley, Justin Sherer, Joshua Sherer; great grandsons Daniel Townsend, Joey Rhodes, and Matt Townsend will serve as pallbearers. Son-in-law Gerry E. Copeland and grandson-in-law Roy Adkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to express special gratitude and appreciation to Dr. George Smith-Vaniz for his years of medical care and friendship.

Kimberly Diane Anderson



Services for Kimberly Diane Anderson will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel, with the Rev. Hank Pilgrim & Rev. Barry Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery with John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Anderson, 21, of Philadelphia, MS, died, Saturday, October 20, 2007 in Meridian.

Survivors include her mother & father, Bessie Anderson & Tommy Dewayne Anderson of Philadelphia, daughter, Sierra Michelle Anderson of Philadelphia, sisters, Dusty & Steve Williams Jr of Brandon, Tracie & Todd Gibson of Philadelphia, two nieces & three nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.



Joseph Wesley Shepherd



SEGUIN, Texas — Services for Joseph Wesley Shepherd will be held on Monday, at 10 a.m. at Goetz Funeral Home.

Mr. Shepherd, 69, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007.

Survivors include his daughter Sharon Elaine Shepherd; son Joseph Wesley Shepherd Jr., daughter Diana Lynn Shepherd, grandchildren, Jenna Elaine DeVries, and Mathew Brian DeVries.

He was preceded in death by his father David Fulton Shepherd, mother Mattie Eva Smith, sister Louise Shepherd, sister Betty Lorane Cardon, brother David Lee Shepherd, and brother Nelson Leon Shepherd.

Winifred Irby “Winnie” May



Services for Winifred Irby “Winnie” May will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Church of the Mediator with the Rev. Helen Tester officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. May, 80, of Meridian died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at her residence.

Survivors include her children, Don May & wife Bonnie, Katy, TX, Debbie May Matthews & husband Art, Bailey, MS, her grandchildren, Kimberly May Steinberg, & husband Matthew, Matthew May, Aislinn Matthews Webb & husband Ben, Josh Matthews, her great grandchildren, Megan Steinberg, Matty May, her sisters, Fredna Irby McCormick, Jackson, MS, Faye Irby Thompson & husband James, Columbus, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Durwood May, and her daughter, Karen May Oates.

The family requests that memorials be made to Hope Village for Children: P.O. box 26, Meridian, MS 39302, Loves Kitchen, and the Wesley House.

Visitation will happen two hours prior to the service.

She was a member of the Church of the Mediator.



James Harris



Services for James Harris will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Rush Foundation Hospital. Burial will be in Cedar Haven EMSH with Berry & Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harris, 92, of Starksville died Thursday October 11, 2007 at EMSH.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.



Gerald Clark Gray



Services for Gerald Clark Gray will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Goodhope Cemetery with John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gray, 73, of Philadelphia died Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home.

He is a retired custodian for Singing River Hospital.

Survivors include his sister, Janice & Edsell Belk of Union, brothers, Willie Jim Gray of Philadelphia, and Mark D. Gray of Philadelphia.

Visitation will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.



Albert Love



Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Albert Love, 68, of Meridian, who died Saturday, October 20, 2007 at his residence.
