Bonnie Frances Boatner



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Bonnie Frances Boatner will be held today, at 3 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ken Bowman, Scotty Boatner and Mac Phillips will officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County.

Mrs. Boatner, 66, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage.



Mary Ann Elizabeth Moore Ethridge



Services for Mary Ann Elizabeth Moore Ethridge will be held today at 3 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Massey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Ethridge, 98, of Meridian, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center. She was born in Neshoba County to William Ellis and Clarinda Sikes Moore. She attended elementary school at both Laurel Hill and Edinburg and finished the 10th grade at Laurel Hill and the 11th and 12th grades at Leake County Agricultural High School in Carthage in 1929.

Mrs. Ethridge moved to Meridian in 1931, and worked at different manufacturing plants until 1942. After World War II began, she took a course in airplane repair at Nashville, Tenn. from the fall of 1942 through March 1943. She repaired airplanes at Key Field during the war and earned awards for inventing a tool box and other items which were beneficial to the government and saved money by their usage.

After the war ended, she worked as a cashier at a business in Meridian. She worked in a bakery, decorating party and wedding cakes. She would decorate cakes in the design of a ship, a plane or whatever was requested for Meridian Naval Air Station. She retired in 1972 but still received calls for her cake decorating artistry for many years.

She owned and operated an apartment house and lived in one of the apartments since the 1940’s.

Survivors include her sisters, Opal Moore Mitchell of Meridian, Masie Moore Winstead of Gulfport, Mazine Moore Winstead and her husband, Elmo, of Philadelphia; brothers, Windell H. Moore of Cedar Grove N.C. and Mason T. Moore of Philadelphia; nieces and nephews, Keith Tingle, Susan Moore, Patricia Clay, Virginia Wadsworth, Carolyn Moore, Thomas Moore, Gerald Moore, Tommy Moore, Grant Moore, Susan Murray, Robbin Moore, Mason Moore Jr., Jane Grubbs, Jeanette Mullinax, Allen Winstead, Helen Juneau, David Winstead, Claire Kovac, James Winstead and Tim Winstead; and a sister-in-law, Frances Hardage Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Ethridge; parents, William Ellis and Clarinda Sikes Moore; sister, Fannie Lee Moore Tingle; brothers, Cornelius N. Moore and Jimmy W. Moore; brothers-in-law, Tom Ben Tingle, Ellis Mitchell and Bert Winstead; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Houlk Moore, Margaret Chaney Moore and Sybil Moore; nephews, Tom Kermit Tingle, John Mark Winstead and Jimmy Francis Moore.

Pallbearers will be Keith Tingle, Thomas Moore, Gerald Mitchell, Allen Winstead, David Winstead and Elmo Winstead.

Visitation will be today from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.



Nellie Lee Burnett

Retired educator



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Nellie Lee Burnett will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lynville United Methodist Church in Preston with the Revs. Scott Carter and Randy Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Lynville Cemetery in Kemper County. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Burnett, 90, died Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Queen City Nursing Center in Meridian. She was a native of the Lynville Community in Kemper County where she made her home most of her life. She was a member of Lynville United Methodist Church. Miss Burnett was a public school teacher in Kemper County for many years.

Survivors include her sister, Annie B. Harris of Meridian; sisters-in-law, Louise Burnett of Jonesboro, Ga. and Ngoc Burnett of Memphis, Tenn.; three nieces; four nephews; a several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alsey and Jerusha Burnett; two brothers, Burk M. Burnett and Clark B. Burnett.

Memorials may be made to: The Palmer House for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703 or French Camp Academy, French Camp, MS 39745.

Pallbearers will be Roy Peden, James Kain, Norman Davis, Todd May, Sam Fulton, Glen Dees, Jared Harris and Greg Wilson.

Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m.-7p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church on Sunday.



Louise Dickerson



UNION — Services for Louise Dickerson will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Chapel Church of God with the Revs. Jack O’Mary and Chuck Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dickerson, 77, of Union, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in her home.

She was an active member of Hudson Chapel Church of God. She was a licensed amateur Ham radio Operator “KC5BFH”. She will be greatly missed by all in her church and the surrounding communities for the community service projects she participated in.

Survivors include her husband of more than 60 years, Doris Dickerson of Union; sons, the Rev. Ed Dickerson and his wife, Stella, of Union, the Rev. Dewayne Dickerson and his wife, Sharon, of Chandler, Ariz., Glen Dickerson and his wife, Cheryl, of Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Randy Dickerson of Eau Clair, Wis. and Dennis Dickerson and his wife, Aubrey, of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Sue Collier and her husband, Bo, of Union; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna Faircloth and her husband, Wayne, of Meridian; brothers, the Rev. C.R. Cooksey and his wife, Carlene, of Pearl and Donald Cooksey and his wife, Nellie, of Meridian.

She was preceded in death by parents, Bart and Dora Cooksey; brothers, Herman Cooksey and Ronald Cooksey.

Pallbearers will be Josh Dickerson, Jonathan Dickerson, Mickey Boles, Phillip Dickerson, Mason Dickerson, Frankie Jordan, Jason Smith, Nathan King and Jason Holland.

Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Wayne Shackelford Sr.



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Wayne Shackelford, Sr. will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Malcolm Lewis and George Hall officiating. Burial will be in Coldwater Cemetery in Neshoba County.

Mr. Shackelford, 81, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at his home.

He was born in the Deemer Community of Philadelphia. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship USS TENNESSEE and had also been a Merchant Marine. He was a private pilot. He was a retired self-employed electrician and had owned Shackelford Electrical, CB Electrical and Wayne’s Wrecking Yard. Mr. Shackelford was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church and Maranatha Fellowship.

Survivors include his daughters, Joanie Winters of San Francisco, and Lisa Shackelford of Smyrna, Ga.; one son, Wayne Shackelford, Jr. of San Francisco; grandchildren, Heather, Ryan and Kevin; a sister, Mary S. Henderson of Madison; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Bonnie Shackelford in 1995 and Katherine Shackelford in 1996; sister, Martha Howle; brothers, Roger Shackelford, Jr., James R. Shackelford, John William Shackelford, Percy A. Shackelford and Joe S. Shackelford.



Tami Jackson



Services for Tami Jackson will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Newton with the Rev. A. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jackson, 39, of Lawrence, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Guardian Angel Hospice.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the church in Newton.



Wardine Cole Bonner



SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Services for Wardine Cole Bonner will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Lawrence Avenue Church of Christ with the Rev. Howard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. James D. Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bonner, 64, of Springfield, formerly of DeKalb, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, in Springfield.

Survivors include her partner, Fred Simon; children, Gloria Cole, Michael Cole, Jeffrey Cole and Julian Cole; six siblings; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.

Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Tiwanna D. Dansby, 22, of Heidelberg, who died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in her home.

DEKALB — Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Annie L. Scott, 76, of Meridian, who died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at Riley Hospital.
