Revis Burton
Retired
Services for Revis Burton will be held today at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church in DeKalb with the Rev. S.M. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Burton, 85, of DeKalb, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Guardian Angel Hospice. He was born in Kemper County on Feb. 22, 1922.
He attended Oak Grove School in Kemper County and Harris High School in Meridian. He furthered his education at Alcorn A&M College (now Alcorn State University). He joined the U.S. Army and served for three years in World War II.
He married and they moved to Michigan and worked for General Motors until his retirement 32 years later. He owned and operated his own real estate company as a real estate broker.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne Burton; a step-son, Sheldon Mosley; a step-daughter, Jonique Mosley, all of DeKalb; sisters-in-law, Cleo Burton, Leora Burton, both of Flint, Mich., Betty Burton of Atlanta, Dora Naylor and her husband, William, Bonnie Roberts, Mattie Houston and her husband, Lozell, Rosie McLaughlin and her husband, Stan, Jannie Grace, and Lola Culpepper, all of Meridian, Wanda Johnson of Tampa; brothers-in-law, Mack Johnson, the Rev. T.C. Johnson, Walter Johnson and his wife, Mattie, Henry Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson; a special nephew, Obie Clark and several other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and his parents.
English Muldrow Alexander
PHILADELPHIA — Services for English today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Eugene Duran, Jim Whitney and Missionary Gerald Branum officiating. Burial will be in Coy Methodist Cemetery in Preston.
Mr. Alexander, 87, died Monday, October 1, 2007 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
James Brady Robbins
Retired civil service employee
Graveside services for James Brady Robbins will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Revs. Randle Holmes and Hermes Broadhead officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Robbins, 93, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Northview Assembly of God. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of more than 65 years, Lillie Mae Robbins, of Meridian; a daughter, Cheryle Felts and her husband, Carey, of Meridian; grandchildren, Steve Smith and his wife, Anne, Todd Smith and his wife, Becky and Robin S. Maxfield and her husband, Corrie; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Northview Assembly of God Building Fund.
Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Tressie Mae Majure

NEWTON — Graveside services for Tressie Mae Majure will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Newton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Josh Fidler and the Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Newton County Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Majure, 93, formerly of Newton, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Lynn Haven, Fla. Mrs. Majure was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newton and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Tommye Lou Richardson of Lynn Haven, Fla.; grandson James Michael Richardson of Jackson; sisters, Thelma Walters and her husband, Boots, of Montrose, and Bobby Shofner of Wynona, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Oliver Majure, three sisters, and four brothers.
Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Owen Mahon
Services for Owen Mahon will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond Johnson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrence Community. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mahon, 82, of Lawrence, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Tommie L. Pearson

Services for Tommie L. Pearson will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church with the Rev. Gary Boles officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pearson, 92, of Marion, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Riley Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday from 7 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James L. Cantey
Services for James L. Cantey will be held at a later date in Knoxville, Tenn. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Cantey, 99, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was retired from Armour and Company.
Survivors include his son, Jim Cantey and his wife, JoEllen of Meridian; a daughter, Ruth Bundren and her husband, Harry, of Wilmington, Del.; grandchildren, Michael Cantey and his wife, Sherri, Timothy Cantey and his wife, Robbie, Mark Cantey, David Cantey and his wife, Jeanna; great-grandchildren, Lauren Cantey, Jamie Cantey, Zachary Cantey, Nettie Cantey, Samuel Cantey, Savannah May and Ella Grace Cantey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn P. Cantey.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
