Helen Louise VanDevender
PHILADELPHIA — Services for Helen Louise VanDevender will be held today at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Kemper County with the Revs. Bobby Lowrey and Bobby Joe Butler officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. VanDevender, 87, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at Care Center of Louisville.
She was a native of Macon and a longtime resident of the Gholson Community in Kemper County. She had formerly worked as a seamstress at the Macon Pants Factory for many years and had formerly worked in the Kemper County Nursing Home as a cook. Mrs. VanDevender was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Alice White of DeKalb; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Vaughn of Moline, Ill.; sister, Shirley Moldavan, of Florida; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy VanDevender and her daughter, Louise Fulton.
Pallbearers will be James White, Sean Fulton, Ryan Roussel, Kenny Conner, Thomas VanDevender and Randall White.
Visitation will be today 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Virginia DuBose Dansby
BUTLER, Ala. — Services for Virginia DuBose Dansby will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Butler. Burial will be in Old Butler City Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dansby, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, in Butler. She was born in Silas and had been a resident of Choctaw County for most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Butler and was active in many civic and community organizations over the years.
Survivors include her sister, Kathryn Glover of Hopkinsville, Ky.; a son, Ernest “Pete” Douglas and is his wife, Diane Rush, of Fairhope; grandchildren, Michael Douglas and his wife, Jennifer, of Spanish Fort, Stacy Brinyark and her husband, Eddie, of Laurenceville, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Brad Douglas, Chase Brinyark, Elizabeth Brinyark and Sean Douglas; several nieces, nephews, “guardian angels” and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest H. Douglas, and W. Cliff Dansby and her son, Jefferson DuBose Dansby.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Butler Building Fund.
Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Rev. Abe Evans Rutledge

PHILADELPHIA — Services for the Rev. Abe Evans Rutledge will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church in Noxapater with the Rev. David Penrod officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Rutledge, 97, of Noxapater, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Neshoba County General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Rutledge; daughters, Kay Forsman, Vivian Long; sons, Autry Rutledge and Charles Rutledge; three step-children; three siblings; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

QUITMAN — Graveside services for Patricia A. Fontenot will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Ville Platte, La. with the Rev. Cosgrove officiating. Wright’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fontenot, 82, of Quitman, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, in her home.
Survivors include her sons, David Fontenot of Quitman and Neal Fontenot of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or a charity of choice.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
