Jimmie Castle

Services for Jimmie Castle will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. at Barham Chapel with reverends Hal Bates and Jack Giles officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Castle, 75, of Meridian, died Sept. 2, 2007 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Castle, of Meridian, son, Gerald Castle and Diane, of Collinsville, daughters, Vickie Speed and husband Jimmy, of Suqualena, Gloria Anderson and husband Ronnie, of Kemper County, Patricia Green and husband David, Collinsville, step children, Danny Wheeler and wife Julie, of Hanceville, Alabama, Donna Mangum and husband, Don, of Meridian, sisters, Loyce Ragsdale and husband, Frank, of Collinsville, and Lynette Cunningham and husband, Donny, Lizabeth Town, Kentucky, brothers Billie Castle and wife Margie, of Collinsville, and Tommy Castle and wife Brenda, of North Carolina. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Castle was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Castle, Sr., brother, W. S. Castle, Jr., daughter, Sherry Lynn Williams, and granddaughter, Vanessa Cottles.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home.

Mr. Castle was a member of First Baptist Church, Collinsville, a member of the Suqualena Masonic Lodge and retired from Delco Remy.



Claude Earl Johnson

Philadelphia — Services for Claude Earl Johnson will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 3 p.m. at Conehatta Facility Building with Rev. Mark Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Conehatta with John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson, 50, of Conehatta, died Aug. 31, 2007 in Philadelphia.

He was employed as a Facility Building Coordinator.

Survivors include, wife, Selma Johnson, three daughters, Shannon Morris, Belinda Morris and Courtney Johnson, one step daughter, Amy Isom, one son, Chad Johnson, five sisters, Laura Solomon, Regina Shoemake, Linda Chickaway, Agnes King and Gwendal John, two brothers, Hamilton Farve and Gary James Johnson, 16 grandchildren, two aunts and a host of nieces and nephews.





David Coyette McIlwain



Gilbertown, Ala. — Services for David Coyette McIlwain will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clovis Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Gilbertown Cemetery with Phillips Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McIlwain, 97, of Gilbertown, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007 at Washington County Nursing Home.

Survivors include three daughter, Charlotte Balius and husband Richard, of Grand Prairie, Texas, Rita McLemore, of Arlington, Texas, and Joan Griggs, of Decatur, Alabama, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Graham McIlwain.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.



Nettie I. Wingo

Services for Nettie I. Wingo will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Derek Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wingo, 92, of Meridian, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007 at Poplar Springs Nursing Home.

She was the owner, operator of Wingo Grocery for 40 years.

Survivors include son, Billy O. Wingo, Phoenix, Arizona, daughter, Frankie Ladd and husband Jerrel, of Meridian, two brothers, James Goodin, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and J. V. Goodin, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, two sisters, Betty Water, Tupelo, and Jettie Pruit, of Baldwin, grandchildren, Tommy Northam, Joe Northam, Tracy Bolling, Ashley Hodge, two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband, Walter Frank Wingo and granddaughter, Laurie Sanford.

Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wingo was a member of Calvery Baptist Church.



David Wiggins

Philadelphia — Services for David Wiggins will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. at Damascus Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wiggins, 84, of Collinsville, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 at Rush Foundation Hospital.

He was a U. S. Army veteran and retired farmer.

Survivors include wife of 62 years, Earline Wiggins, of Collinsville, daughter, Dorothy and husband Oliver, of Dekalb, three sons, Eugene and wife Jefferi, Wilmer and wife Connie, all of Collinsville, Wayne and wife Janice, of Union, former daughters-in-law, Judy Wiggins, of Collinsville, Lori Ann Rice, of Rose Hill, sisters, Versie Chisolm, of Daleville, and Nannie Mae Irwin, of Shreveport, Louisiana, 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews and numerous other adults and children that loved him and called him “Paw”, special pet, Itty Biddie, and special friends, Hazel Hudnall and Nancy Haskins.

Carl E. “Sonny” Sanderford Jr.

Services for Carl E. “Sonny” Sanderford, Jr. will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with reverends Sally Fran Ross and Mile Boles officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sanderford, 74, of Meridian, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a retired service station owner.

Survivors include a son, Todd Sanderford, of Meridian, daughter in-law, Carla Sanderford, of Collinsville, granddaughter, Caitlan Sanderford, of Pensacola, Florida, grandson, Phillip Culpepper, of Meridian, sister, Rush Arledge and husband Pete, of Meridian, nephew and niece, Tony Arledge and Tina Arledge, both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, sister in-law, Patricia Smith and husband Ed, of Suqualena, and other nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by wife, Betty Sanderford, son, Sandy Sanderford III, father, Carl E. Sanderford, Sr., and his wife Maude, and mother, Iva McCrory and her husband Mack McCrory.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Stephens Funeral Home in Meridian from noon until 2 p.m.

Mr. Sanderford was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Navy and a member of College Park United Methodist Church. He and his dad owned and managed Carl and Carl Jr. Service on the corner of 8th St. and 24th Avenue.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Culpepper, Rusty Culpepper, Dusty Culpepper, Ken Culpepper, Ed Smith, and David Haggard.
